The 7th Tahiti Pearl Regatta took place from May 12 to 16. Though the initial objective of the event was to boost the off-season in this part of Polynesia, it has now an indispensable part of the Pacific regatta calendar for sailing enthusiasts.
It is rapidly becoming to sail, what the famous Hawaiki Nui Va’a is to canoe racing, an event exciting passions all around the world.
Amateur and professional sailors now come from all over for this race and, for local sailors, it’s an annual event in which they can test their skills. This year the course was set between the three Leeward Islands of Bora-Bora, Raiatea and Taha’a.
Amongst other events within the regatta, is a “Défi Pro” (Professional Challenge) in which local companies and their staff can compete under their own colors.
It’s a great way of generating team spirit within the company!
Without doubt the regatta owes its growing success to its special spirit. Not least to the lively and typical local parties that follow, on the island motu, for, when the races are over, the fun begins and lasts well into the tropical night.
It would be a great time of the year to take your cruise and join the locals in this very special event. You’ll discover an authentic Polynesia and we can promise a memorable occasion.
