Discover our Dance Traditions

Commonly called Tamure, our traditional dances or Ori Tahiti are an essential element of Polynesian cultural heritage. The Heiva i Tahiti is THE annual highlight that brings together all those who love this art, for dancers young and old, for semi-professionals and amateurs alike. The dancers dream about and prepare for the event all year long. So it’s a not-to-be-missed opportunity to admire a whole range of different traditional Polynesian dance forms. Allow me to present two of the best known: the Ote’a and the Aparima.

The "Ote'a"  is a dance rather quick, very jerky. It is probably the most famous Polynesian dance, with his flamboyant costumes, the quick movements of the dancers and the endiablé rhythm of percussions.

The “Aparima” indicate a narrated dance. It is the translation of a legend, a history by the dance. Every gesture of hands dresses a particular signification and it is rather easy to acknowledge the gestures of the common life (to brush hair, to smell a flower…).

Did you know it?
“Aparima” is also the name of one of our Lagoon 440.
Fast, marine, comfortable and smart, this catamaran will be the ideal place for unforgettable instant in couple, or in family or between friends. We like especially the cockpit’s bench seating for sharing the pleasures of sailing and the forward cockpit to dream whether under sail or at mooring.
